The Concrete Plant

You have most certainly seen these plants. They grow in the oddest of all places. In crevices and cracks lining the pavements, finding its roots in the heart of busy modern roads or even slithering along the side of buildings.
Often the world come to terms that the urban environment we city people live in are simply known as the Concrete Jungle. A vast network of cement, glass and dull bricks creating a maze choked with smoke and dust from the passing pollutant-belching vehicles. Towering blocks of intimidating monstrosities called buildings that blinds us from looking into the heavens in the cool night. Sounds that lambast the sane into believing that these unnatural cacophony are typical. Yet, in this concrete jungle, these plants stubbornly persists to make a mark in the world, a desperate cry to end the disastrous concrete world we are creating. These plants, I would like to call: The concrete plants.
What if someone steps on you? You poke them, says the concrete plant. You adapt to be hard and then you pierce them. make sure they would never step on you again. Ever. Only then can you grow strong.
The roadside plants we always see are perfect example of resilience. Despite countless of times being trodden on, they are still growing. The survivors of the twenty-first century. Even being stunted in growth bears no burden to these resilient creatures. They are perfect examples of what we should examplify. Although some may claim that these plants do not really grow taller, the fact is, they still grow. In their roots, extending secretly  to tap into as many viable options for nutrients and water symbolising our need to outsource opportunities and not wait for them to appear.
We should all pledge to be concrete plants. To adapt into the harsh environment and flourish. That is what we humans do best. We adapt. we change. We move on. We can make a difference. Just like a concrete plant who makes a small difference by adding greenery to the landscape, we too can add our greenery to the dull world by sharing happiness and joy in the spirit of humanitarian caring for others. Only then can we survive and our world would be a better place to live in.
