Lessons in life (3)
Always hope but never expect. Many people out there often get confused with these two terms, hope and expect. The biggest difference is simply this, those who hope are those who appreciates the value of the things they may get while those who expect simply do not. There are many things in life that we need or desire whether it may be materialistic or not. It may be small or big. Trivial or important. Regardless of its value, the bottom line is that we should count everything we have as a blessing. Always remember to thank God for blessing us with much more than we deserve. "To Him we come from and to Him we return". Be humble, this world is not yours to play with. Remind ourselves each day that there are a billion other people who deserves what you have more than yourself.
Appreciating someone or something reminds me of the story of the prophet Jacob or Ya'akub. For years he had to endure long years of sufferings. He was left bedridden with a terrible skin disease, his children passed away, his cattle perished and his wife left him. Yet, he never lost faith in God and take his misfortunes as a test from God and a blessing in disguise. Such is the will of one who truly appreciates the value of the things he has. May we all have the noble will to do the exact same thing:)
Dr Seuss said, "Today you are you that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you." Never let anyone tell you to not be who you are. Everyone is born independant of another person. We are unique individuals with the capacity to change the world. At any given moment of time, YOU have the power to say this is not how the story shall end. You have the power to take over your life. Not any other Tom, Dick or Harry. Let your smile change the world, not the world change your smile. If you know what you are doing is right even if everyone else says you are not then by all means persevere. It takes more than pitiless and meaningless words to stop you from spreading good in this ravaged world. Never give in because when you do, you have only allowed their disclosed bad intentions overwhelm your good intentions.
Everyday when someone questions me or doubts me on what I am doing, I will take a few moment to ponder. personally, I am not a subscriber to "a greater good". Whenever a greater good is involved, someone has to take the pain or the brunt. Sometimes, it is really the best option to walk away, give an advice and allow everything to cool down. Those who suffer in silence are those who can appreciate the blessings that are given to them. Remember, when you have to force yourself to walk away from something good so that no one gets hurt, believe that something better will plop into your life. believe:)
