The Milo Accident part 9
It is never nice to end a story without telling the ending the same way it is not nice to abruptly end a conversation just like that. So I will bring this fateful incident that had taught me many things to a close. As much as I do love Akshat Hans, he can be the worst of friends. Si Hui finally confided with her quite large group of friends and then threatened to call the police for blackmail. In the end we were sent to counselling for a total of 4 sessions for me and the girls two.
She cried during the counselling session with Mr Wilfred James which Hans and I always thought was secretly gay. She had her friends with her, Jin Ting, Kit Yee, Abigail, Felicia and it was them against the two of us. Finally, we came to a truce to just let things be as it is. Mr James parted with a message that I always acted on till now and impacted me a lot, "Whatever that you do or say, I just want you to come out of this room feeling better than how you came in because that is my job". He told us that we are still young and he said that in any relationship, if it is meant to be, it is meant to be. He married the woman that he fell in love in secondary school before losing contact for a good 6 years. Mr james said that our O Levels was coming up and asked us to quote our grades.
I was never the smart kid in my class. Never the top 10 and always the bottom 10. My grades were terrible: I failed most of my tests and had an L1R5 of more than 35, you cant even consider going into a polytechnic. Hans caried on his own and I never helped him much after these counselling sessions. The day I got my results, Mr James took the trouble to hunt down for me. He was overjoyed to see the 9 distinctions on my slip and told me that if I had given an ounch more attention to this absurd issue between my friend and Si hui, I was gone case. He took my result slip and printed it out and told me that he would show every single student that comes into his counselling room. My table tennis teacher Ms Lim CC told me the same thing too and shared my story to the entire table tennis team.
Hence, to conclude, I went to the school of my choice TJC and have never regretted since while Akshat Hans could not make it in by a mere 2 points and went to MJC where he became perhaps one of the most popular kid there. Tired of all this madness that had nearly caused our fall, we made a bromise (brother's-promise). "I promise to never fall in love with any girl ever in junior college. We can flirt and lead the bachelor's life but never fall in love unless the girl's name is taeyoen, sunny or tiffany from SNSD. If it does happen, keep reminding the other person on how ugly and not-worth-it the girl is. Otherwise, it is the end of our friendship." Yet, my friends, we are humans and this bromise is too easily broken. But heck, things happen for a reason right?
