Syrian War of Brothers

Frankly as a Sunni Muslim, supposedly my heart should be well placed onto the sides of the Sunni- majority rebels trying to topple the "dictator" President Assad. Living in a country so far away from the middle east, we Muslims here see a tireless and endless futile war of brothers between Sunni-Shit'te. There CAN be peace but only if one side is suppressed as history has proven from time to time such as Saddam's controversial regime. The West may think that if Arabs don't kill Westerners, they'd kill among themselves because of religious belief but here, I would like to clarify that Sunni and Shit'te are not religiously different but rather more political and for that I shall write another post about this one day.
The sole dominant superpower of the world, the US, backs the rebels to win. But do you want to know why President Assad do not want to step down and let the Sunnis take over the country? It is fear. Fear of persecution and endless massacre. The Sunnis would not stop there once they have taken over the country. Only when their anger is dissipated in the form of revenge blood spilling across the desert floor shall the Sunnis be satisfied. It is another game of life for the military. kill or be killed. Kill familes or yours would get the chop. The Muslim world have never been a united force ever since the death of the last Caliph and this curse shall be borne until the ends of time easily manipulated by the Western minds.
Take a look at Iraq. Saddam is not really a Sunni to begin with. he was part of the Ba'athist Movement that in some ironical way was repressive towards the Kurds and majority Shit'tes and rather neutral to the Sunnis but there was peace. Years of civil war and bloodshed in pre-saddam rule was changed to peace and prosperity in Iraq. Yet, the US had to intervene in the name of "freedom and democracy" in a  SECULAR STATE like Iraq and brought back to chaos of civil war and poverty. No analyst in the world would agree that the US army would be greeted with flowers by the locals when they invaded them. they'd be greeted with bullets for sure. So easily is the bond broken between the Muslim brothers, Sunni and Shit'tes alike. Two strengths very much the same but will never be different.
Syria despite having a Sunni majority was exclusively given the rights of governance to the Shit'te partly due to colonialism interference. A very much dangerous move if I should add. The tables would be turned for sure but only with more bloodshed. the rebels I predict would fully take over the government in less than a years time seeing that recently they had taken over the borders. It would be sad to see both sides losing unforgivable number of people but more unforgivable is the civil war of brothers of Islam that shall be placed on the backs of muslims around the world forever, a mistake that was first made 1400 years ago....
